Kevin Sather, Sony senior product manager for the Vaio Group, said the Vaio Hybrid was inspired by the popularity of tablets combined with the benefit of a keyboard. The stylish device allows users to take notes, run graphics or presentations. Sony did not disclose anything about the specification, only stating the Hybrid and Slate are concept models and nowhere near final products.
Toshiba's 7.7-inch and 13.3-inch tablet prototypes are light and thin with rounded corners and a textured back. Toshiba was interested in using the form factors for future devices though it's not sure these will ever hit the market.
One of the highlight tablets was Lenovo's 13.3-inch IdeaPad Yoga that opens like a normal laptop but can then flip backwards to become a tablet. Taiwanese PC vendors Asus and Acer showed off their different strengths. While Asus's new Transformer Prime Android 4.0 tablet came with the sharp and bright looks, with a rear cover designed to allow for better GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth performance, Acer's Iconia A700 Tab focused on the company's new cloud-based, device-agnostic streaming and sharing solution.
