Sony HMZ-T1 3D headset hands-on

This is the processor box which also functions as a connectivity hub for the kit. Measuring just 180 x 168 x 30mm, it is slightly larger than two stacked Blu-ray Disc cases.

The piano-black front panel sports two status LEDs and a port for hooking up the headset. There's a two-pin power socket and an HDMI input and output on the rear. The latter enables users to install the processor box between their current disc player and display via the HDMI pass-through function.

Performance In a nutshell, the HMZ-T1 offers a rather unique entertainment experience best described as watching a huge projection through a pair of goggles.

In terms of 3D performance, this headset is right on par with most passive 3D TVs with its flicker-free 3D visuals matched by adequately strong depth. Overall clarity was surprisingly good, too, despite the lower 720p-resolution OLED panels. The only shortcoming was noticeable film judder especially during some of the slow-panning scenes.
