FierceWireless has managed to clarify the issue around the availability of the Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone 7.5 handset in UK.
Clove UK had earlier complained while the handset was the subject of “massive interest” there, they would not be given stock to sell SIM and contract free until January 2012 .
Now Nokia’s Mark Squires confirmed that carriers Vodafone, Orange UK, T-Mobile UK and 3UK will sell the Lumia 800 on contract, while only independent retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U will be able to offer SIM-free and contract Lumia smartphones.
"The fact is though that the vast majority of the operators and major high street retailers have taken up the product and are throwing their support behind it," Squires said. "Therefore we are making sure that by using these channels the Lumia 800 will be available to our customers in the widest variety of outlets from SIM-free to contract."
