Vertu Constellation: A $15000 touchscreen phone bearing the ageing Symbian OS.
18.05.12
Has just released their first touchscreen smartphone: the Constellation.
The 12mm thick touchscreen phone is covered with white crocodile skin that’s encrusted with diamonds and boasts a 3.5” nHD AMOLED display with 640×480 pixels (Same eye-popper found on the Nokia C7) that’s covered by a Sapphire Crystal, you no longer need to worry about your phone’s screen getting scratched by your Bugatti Veyron’s key. Also, the Hampshire-based company was kind enough to give the Constellation something to brag about: exclusive ringtones from the London Symphony Orchestra which you’ll love hearing through the phone’s High-fidelity loudspeaker (Which, I’m pretty sure sounds nowhere near your home’s Burmester HiFi sound system).
The Constellation’s specs sheet isn’t as grandiose as the device’s exterior. We’re yet to find out what processor is running the phone’s antiquated Symbian OS, although, the phone lets you converse with queen Elizabeth for up to 7 hours on GSM and 4.5 hours on WCDMA networks. The phone also supports WCDMA I/I I/IV/V/VIII, EGSM 900, GSM 850/1800/1900 networks, has an 8 megapixel camera with EDOF (Extended depth-of-field) and twin LED Heptagon flash, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, supports WiFi b/g/n, single Micro USB port, and an FM radio.
